I was so excited when Miss Florida 2009 Rachael Todd came to visit!
I had always heard beauty pageants were more than just a show, but honestly, I didn't believe it. Now I do. When I heard the amount of work Rachael does in one day it made my head spin. Through it all she has the best attitude and kindest spirit. She truly believes in her platform and wants to make a difference in this world. Rachael works closely with her mother Krissy Todd the founder of the H.O.P.E. Foundation, a non-profit organization created to assist families and individuals in crisis and prevent them from becoming homeless or help them out of their homeless situation.
Last month I had the please of of meeting Allison Kreiger Miss Florida 2006. Once again I was amazed at the wonderful attitude and spirit. Allison also has a foundation called H.O.P.E., Helping Other People Eat. This group is focused on the prevention and awareness of eating disorders. H.O.P.E. Inc. is a not-for-profit organization and works to provide funding for treatment for those who cannot afford it.
The next time you watch a beauty pageant please take a moment to really look at the contestants and listen to their stories!
